History of zoo:- Himalayan Nature park kufri was established in 1992. Prior to setting up of the nature park part of the present area of the park used to be musk deer farm since 1965.in the yaear 1996 it was recognized as Himalayan nature park kufri by the central zoo authority of india.
Spread over an area of 90 hectares, the Zoo has been divided into two sections for the better management of the animals. Section I comprises of Musk deer, Barking deer, Himalayan Tahr, Goral, and Sambar while Section II comprises of Black Bear, Brown Bear, Leopard, Leopard cat, Himalayan griffon, and Pheasants. The park also houses 'Monal', the State bird of Himachal Pradesh, also an endangered Himalayan species. There are 17 open enclosure and 3 cages for the display of these animals. These open enclosures have been provided with adequate protection to animals against natural climatic variations, fulfilling the individual needs like night sheds, caves, trees, shrubs, logs, etc.
